Our learnership programme has been a labour of love to empower individuals to reach their full potential.

Learnerships are structured programmes that afford employees the opportunity to work, gain experience and study towards a recognised qualification. The learnership programmes are not always an easy journey. It requires personal sacrifice, time and a great deal of commitment from learners, and 251 Speciality Stars successfully completed their respective programmes in 2023.

Of these learners, 92 were unemployed and Pepkor Speciality was able to offer 74 (76%) of them a permanent role within their various brands.

The many success stories of the Speciality Stars, whereby they have progressed in their career, are truly testament to the positive impact that Pepkor Speciality is making in growing their talent.

The success of the learnership programmes not only marks the learners’ dedication but we also acknowledge the training service providers, mentors, HR and operational support teams who have supported, nurtured, encouraged and guided the Speciality Stars to success.

A new group of 306 intakes has already embarked on their journey in October 2023.

Pepkor Speciality has been recognised among peers within the Super Large Retail Sector of Companies, being awarded second place at the W&R SETA Annual Good Practice Awards.

The initiative is aimed at recognising the SETA stakeholders who are demonstrating best practice in skills development in the Wholesale and Retail Sector.
